The project involves a new fire station at Langkaia in Oslo and establishes a new green lung in the city that combines park/open space with security for the city and a new public space for exposure of this important resource.
The basement provides a solid base for the building where the functions are located at the back of the building which ensures a quick and efficient emergency response, large open spaces provide opportunities for activities outside of opening hours. The project stands in an important historical context which is reflected in the use of materials and the design of the facade of the building where brick is an important element and with the main construction in solid wood and blue-green roof, joy is provided to all species
