The Haukåsbanen is developed in this feasibility study as an urban gondola lift that is intended to be used as a public transport solution to and from Konnerud. This is part of the ambition for Konnerud to preserve today's values of skiing and hiking, nature and low-threshold outdoor life, which nevertheless harmonizes in a state-of-the-art way with urban life in Drammen.

The gondola will revitalize the Haukåsløypa trail and move the ski center to Haukåstoppen, thus making the area accessible to those who are not so good at walking. It creates a unique summit at Haukåstoppen with science and sports education in addition to conferences. It acts as a vitamin injection for Marienlyst and Konnerud and creates a tourist attraction for Drammen that connects the center of Konnerud and the center of Drammen in the most environmentally friendly way possible. It eliminates the need for the Konnerud descent and strengthens sports at Konnerud and Marienlyst, as well as enabling the development of family homes at Konnerud.
