"It's so nice in Drammen!"

Is a phrase we Drammen residents often hear. And rightly so: Union, Elveparken and new urban spaces have changed our identity. The city bridge, the hospital and the station are in the process of connecting us even more closely together. Drammen has gone from being "the ugly duckling" to becoming a role model when it comes to urban renewal.

But now that the big promises are in place – what will be the next chapter?
We believe the time has come to open the doors and welcome everyone to help shape Drammen further. The next step is to breathe new life into the city center. Because the unique thing about Drammen is that the city center is bubbling with potential – here there is room for new ideas, initiatives and impulses.

In the new municipal plan, the municipality invites you to do just this, by opening up for smaller infill projects in areas set aside for city center purposes – without the requirement for a zoning plan, as long as the property is under 700 m².

Therefore, the Nils Tveit Architects Office, in collaboration with the Drammen Region Business Association, is launching an ideas competition: An open invitation to everyone who has a heart for Drammen to show what the city can become.
Whether you are an architect, artist, landscape architect, urban developer – or simply a creative soul – we want to hear from you!

The goal is to create a showcase for Drammen's creative community, an arena to discuss opportunities, inspire landowners and build new connections.
